Modern Warfare 2 Review The wait was excruciating. The anticipation was nearly unbearable. The result was everything we’d hoped for, and more. Infinity Ward and Activision have done it again; they stole the spotlight, they stole the stage, they’ve stolen our hearts. Modern Warfare 2 blasted onto the scene to meet a massive, hungry fan base gathered from the original Modern Warfare, and it did not disappoint.
Need for Speed: Shift Review   Edgy and gritty, the Need for Speed series has typically given fans a game that encompasses the underground side of racing. With underground races, police chases, and options to customize your car that would make even Exhibit's jaw hit the floor. The latest instalment in this series, known for satisfying the driving deviant in all of us, has taken a step in the other direction. Bringing racing back to the track, where police have no authority, and completely customizable body kits are simply uncalled for, Need for Speed: Shift is developer Slightly Mad's attempt at reviving publisher Electronic Arts' floundering series. So, has the result been sink, or swim?
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Review Tom Clancy is to tactical video gaming what Stephen King has become to thriller horror films: the standard. The ever expanding Tom Clancy line of games has become what tactical video gamers wait for. The latest Rainbow Six instalment 'Vegas 2' has brought publisher/developer Ubisoft some of its best reviews to date, and has shown some great progress in this line of games known for its realism, difficulty, and utter awesomeness.
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 begins where the first finishes off. A flashback to the first game serves as a training mission and helps fill in the gaps for those of you who aren't privy to the Rainbow Six: Vegas story. You are reminded of the traitorous actions of a team member occurring in at the end of the last instalment. You are the elite of the elite, and this time, you're hunting people trained by your own.
Battlefield: Bad Company Review There are few words in gaming that can invoke a response as widespread, across consoles, personal computers, and the general gaming industry as this one word: Battlefield. Publisher Electronic Arts and developing company Digital Illusions CE (DICE) have been consistently feeding the Battlefield series to the hungry masses of first-person shooter enthusiasts worldwide for almost six years now. However, with Bad Company they have finally, truly taken the step into next-gen gaming. This is the closest the Battlefield has ever come to the complete package, this is the game that has forever changed this series, and has made me a fan.
Halo 3: ODST Review Halo. There are few other words within the gaming community that will elicit such a strong response. Halo is one of the few videogame franchises that will forever be held up as a classic - quite amazing considering its roots.  Halo was originally intended to be a real-time strategy game for the Apple McIntosh in 1999. As game development progressed, it evolved into a first person shooter. Then in 2001, Microsoft was desperately hunting for exclusive franchises for their Xbox console that they would release later that year and bought developer Bungie. Bungie rushed to finish the game on Microsoft’s hardware and in November 2001, Halo released as a launch title exclusive for the Xbox.

Verizon's Motorola "Droid" does what? [update! pics added]

News - Technology

Written by Wade Chapman Thursday, 22 October 2009 14:24

You might have seen some commercials on TV or on the interwebz of Verizon Wireless’s upcoming “Droid” device. The ad mimics most of Apple’s ads, stating what the Apple’s iPhone doesn’t do. Hell this even caught my attention, so I went to www.droiddoes.com and found nothing but an email signup screen (so I did, why not? You wanna fight about it?!)

Anyway, chances are you won’t find too much information on this device, that is, until October 28, 2009. This is the date that Verizon has marked to officially announce what they call the “most desirable” device and “must-have” phone of the year.

What I can tell you here is that it is a Motorola phone and will run Google’s Android operating system.

Trying to knock the iPhone off of it’s pedestal? Good luck Motorola, we saw Blackberry’s best shot and well, you can get two Storm’s now for $49. Your move.

UPDATE: [10/23/2009]

Pictures of this new smartphone have been leaked to the internet, in which I have snagged up for your viewing pleasure:

It's also rumored that the Droid will actually drop in stores on October 30th (that's next Friday), so be on the lookout and remember:

Borderlands Shortages? Get yours!

Borderlands

Despite only being released for a day Gearbox's Borderlands is already in high demand. The demand is prompting shortages at certain locations throughout the country. In the East coast 360 game copies are in short supply and in the West coast the PS3 version is running low. Gearbox VP of Marketing, Steve Gibson told IGN "We are aware of this and are working with production and distribution at ramping up to catch up with demand"

The plan is to be back up in numbers by Thursday and Friday at many of the locations. This game must be good. This also has to be great news for Gearbox and possibly the future of the Borderlands IP. Congratulations Gearbox!

Borderlands - Behind the Random Weapon Generator

Borderlands Random Weapon Generator

We've all heard about the "Million, Bazillions Guns!" in 2K and Gearbox's Borderlands. We've also heard about how the game "randomly" generates weapons thusly creating hundreds more. Do we understand how this system works? No, and probably does not matter but for those that do I'll do my best to explain.

Good for a laugh, unless you're missing games.

A USPS employee was caught red handed stealing GameFly orders out of the mail over a course of a few months near Philadelphia. Reginald Johnson (34), a U.S. Postal Service worker, admitted in court yesterday, October 15, to stealing 2,200 video games from GameFly. That's almost $86,000 worth of video games!

Sky Player Coming to Xbox 360 - Information Update

360skyplayer

As some of you may already know, those of you without a good cable or satellite subscriber may soon be given access to premium live television through you Xbox 360 console. The Sky Player is going to initially offer viewers a decent handful of channels for a small price (around $15/month). If you already have a multi-room Sky account or an unlimited Sky account, then this service will be free to you. I imagine, eventually the entire line-up will be offered to us.

This is why I love Xbox, always giving us something new. The entire channel list is through the jump.

Edit: currently only available in UK
