Modern Warfare 2 Review The wait was excruciating. The anticipation was nearly unbearable. The result was everything we’d hoped for, and more. Infinity Ward and Activision have done it again; they stole the spotlight, they stole the stage, they’ve stolen our hearts. Modern Warfare 2 blasted onto the scene to meet a massive, hungry fan base gathered from the original Modern Warfare, and it did not disappoint.
Need for Speed: Shift Review   Edgy and gritty, the Need for Speed series has typically given fans a game that encompasses the underground side of racing. With underground races, police chases, and options to customize your car that would make even Exhibit's jaw hit the floor. The latest instalment in this series, known for satisfying the driving deviant in all of us, has taken a step in the other direction. Bringing racing back to the track, where police have no authority, and completely customizable body kits are simply uncalled for, Need for Speed: Shift is developer Slightly Mad's attempt at reviving publisher Electronic Arts' floundering series. So, has the result been sink, or swim?
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Review Tom Clancy is to tactical video gaming what Stephen King has become to thriller horror films: the standard. The ever expanding Tom Clancy line of games has become what tactical video gamers wait for. The latest Rainbow Six instalment 'Vegas 2' has brought publisher/developer Ubisoft some of its best reviews to date, and has shown some great progress in this line of games known for its realism, difficulty, and utter awesomeness.
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 begins where the first finishes off. A flashback to the first game serves as a training mission and helps fill in the gaps for those of you who aren't privy to the Rainbow Six: Vegas story. You are reminded of the traitorous actions of a team member occurring in at the end of the last instalment. You are the elite of the elite, and this time, you're hunting people trained by your own.
Battlefield: Bad Company Review There are few words in gaming that can invoke a response as widespread, across consoles, personal computers, and the general gaming industry as this one word: Battlefield. Publisher Electronic Arts and developing company Digital Illusions CE (DICE) have been consistently feeding the Battlefield series to the hungry masses of first-person shooter enthusiasts worldwide for almost six years now. However, with Bad Company they have finally, truly taken the step into next-gen gaming. This is the closest the Battlefield has ever come to the complete package, this is the game that has forever changed this series, and has made me a fan.
Halo 3: ODST Review Halo. There are few other words within the gaming community that will elicit such a strong response. Halo is one of the few videogame franchises that will forever be held up as a classic - quite amazing considering its roots.  Halo was originally intended to be a real-time strategy game for the Apple McIntosh in 1999. As game development progressed, it evolved into a first person shooter. Then in 2001, Microsoft was desperately hunting for exclusive franchises for their Xbox console that they would release later that year and bought developer Bungie. Bungie rushed to finish the game on Microsoft’s hardware and in November 2001, Halo released as a launch title exclusive for the Xbox.

Rumors abound - New Xbox in 2012 with ATI graphics chip

News - XBOX 360

Rumors and speculation are running rampant this week. Are there really new Xbox and DS consoles in the works?

Fudzilla is reporting "industry sources" told the website that graphics chip manufacturer AMD/ATI has already won the GPU deal for Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console, the same company that developed the current Xbox 360 graphics processor. They say Microsoft wants to allow for backwards compatibility of older titles, and using a compatible chipset will make that happen. They would continue to speculate the new or "refreshed" console could hit the market by 2012.

When asked for comment, Microsoft issued its standard response to IGN, saying "Microsoft does not comment on rumor or speculation."

There's also talk that graphics company nVidia has signed a deal with Nintendo to implement its latest Tegra System-on-Chip processor in the successor to the current DSi handheld, according to BSN's "confidential sources."

The website also states we could see the new handheld in late 2010, possibly at next year's Tokyo Game Show, and it will be backwards compatible with DS games and applications.

When asked for comment, Nintendo issued IGN a very familiar sounding response, saying "We don't comment on rumor or speculation."

The Microsoft rumor seems more likely at this point, simply because it actually makes sense. Nintendo, meanwhile, has no motivation releasing a new DS anytime soon, and certainly not as early as next year.

Xbox 360 and TVersity

TVersity

Recently I picked up a Linksys Wireless Router model WRT54G2 to use with my home network, and soon realized that the router I bought was one of the only routers that didn’t support the feature with the Xbox 360 to stream video from a PC. My Xbox would connect to the Internet, my PC would as well, but I couldn’t connect from my Xbox to my PC to stream the video. I combed through forums and discussion boards and the problem seems to have something to do with the UNDP settings and capabilities of the router.

Gears of War 2 - Best Title Update Yet?

News - XBOX 360

Gears of War 2

According to the Gears of War official website a new title update is on the verge of release. By the sounds of it, it seems like a pretty significant change to the overall gameplay. While this is the 5th update for the game, the updates have rarely been touted with lines like - "Get ready to experience Gears 2 like you never have before!" I'm wondering how amazing can this title update be. The hope is there, that this becomes significant, as there are multiple gameplay hiccups that need to be fixed. Now with the recent hacking exploits the game can be at times unbearable.

Maybe EPIC has it in them to crank out the title update we have all been waiting for.

Games Versus Gamers

Articles - General Gaming

Tuesday, 13 October 2009 08:55

Everybody knows and understands that gaming evolves. From the NES to the Wii, hell from Atari to Xbox 360. The evolution of gaming consoles and games is great. And over the years our games became more complex and challenging and it was great. The developers always kept us on our toes.
The other day something happened and it made me wonder when will gamers, as in us, you and I, max out our capabilities.

Activision has announced plans for upcoming DLC for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. Soon a new playable character will be added to the roster, Carnage. The redder, skinnier version of Venom has not been given a release date or price tag yet.

I hope some Achievement points accompany this DLC, otherwise I'll be skipping it personally. Anyways, take a look at the video. It does look pretty cool.

The newest Xbox 360 dashboard update is set to roll out mid-to-late October and connects us all as never before with built in Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm. Although apps and videos will not be supported we will all be able to Tweet, and post, and hell even Face-creep our buddies all from the comfort of our couches on our consoles. Now I have a reason to buy the chatpad attachment for my controller!

This is one thing I love about Xbox 360, they are constantly upgrading and improving the core dashboard. It keeps the console fresh, new, and sleek, while keeping me happy with my choice to be an Xbox freak. Keep your eyes peeled, word is they are sending out sneak peak updates to select Gold members.

Easy Achievement Boost Sales? You don't say!

News - XBOX 360

Achievement Unlocked

In an interview with OXM (Official Xbox Magazine) Gearbox president Randy Pitchford claims that games with easy achievements can undoubtedly increase a games sale margin by anywhere from 10 to 40 thousand units after its release. This isn't at all surprising, but I am impressed that someone like Pitchford came out very clearly and openly to make this claim. It makes sense though, a low budgeted game with widely known easy achievements will sell it's worth on the achievement merit alone.
